1、 Why precision manufacturing cannot do without the "cold rolling" process?
Cold rolled sheet is a product made from hot-rolled coil as raw material, which undergoes multiple passes of cold rolling after acid washing and descaling at room temperature. Due to the absence of high-temperature oxidation, its surface quality and dimensional accuracy are significantly better than hot-rolled plates.
Surface smoothness: The surface of cold-rolled sheet is as smooth as a mirror, and can be directly used as an appearance part without additional polishing, or as a high-quality substrate for electroplating, galvanizing, and baking paint.
Dimensional accuracy: The thickness tolerance can be controlled within ± 0.01mm, which is particularly suitable for scenarios where automated stamping lines have strict requirements for mold clearance.
Cold rolled sheet is an ideal raw material choice in fields such as automotive parts, hardware tools, and cabinets that have dual requirements for size and appearance.
2、 Comparison of Material Grade and Processing Performance
According to the different stamping depths, cold-rolled plates are usually divided into the following commonly used grades:
Material Grade
Yield strength (MPa)
Elongation rate (%)
Stamping performance
Typical application cases
SPCC / DC01
≤270
≥28
Ordinary drawing
Chassis shell, file cabinet, muffler
SPCD / DC03
≤240
≥34
deep drawing
Fuel tank shell, shallow drawn parts
SPCE / DC04
≤210
≥40
Ultra deep charging
Car door inner panel, complex drawn parts
DC05 / DC06
≤190
≥42
Extra deep charge
Automotive oil pan, complex covering parts
Material selection tips:
If the part experiences necking or fracture during processing, it indicates insufficient material ductility and it is recommended to upgrade to a higher grade of deep drawing steel.
3、 Detailed Explanation of Surface Quality Grades (FB/FC/FD)
One major feature of cold-rolled sheet is that it can meet different process requirements by distinguishing surface grades:
FB level (higher level):
Allow for a small amount of minor scratches and dents that do not affect formability. Suitable for internal structural components or non exterior surfaces.
FC level (advanced):
There shall be no visible defects on the front. Suitable for use as appearance parts after spraying or electroplating treatment.
FD level (super advanced):
There shall be no defects on both sides that affect the quality of electroplating, enamel or polishing. Commonly used for high-end home appliance panels or components with extremely high post-processing requirements.
4、 Precautions for Processing and Storage
Although cold-rolled sheets have excellent performance, the following details still need to be noted during use and storage:
Rust prevention protection:
The surface of cold-rolled sheet is protected by oxygen scale, which makes it highly susceptible to oxidation and rusting in the air. It is recommended to complete processing within 48 hours after opening, or store in a dry and ventilated indoor environment.
Stamping lubrication:
Cold rolled plates have relatively high hardness, and special extreme pressure emulsions or lubricants need to be used during stamping to prevent mold heating and material sticking.
Welding performance:
Due to its low carbon content, the CO ₂ gas shielded welding and resistance welding performance of cold-rolled plates are good, and cracks are not easily generated after welding.

6、 Specification supply and delivery standards
We have a stock of cold-rolled coils and open plates with a thickness of 0.3mm-3.0mm and a width of 1000mm-1250mm in stock. Support precision cutting, leveling, deburring and other precision machining services.
All products come with an original material certificate (MTC), which includes detailed chemical analysis and mechanical performance data. For high-end electronic or automotive parts customers, we can provide environmentally friendly material reports that comply with the RoHS directive.
If welding is required for cold-rolled plates after processing, it is recommended to remove surface oil stains first to avoid affecting the quality of the weld seam.
