Product Name: Electroplated Galvanized Steel Sheet (EG/SEC)
Execution standard: GB/T 15675 (Continuously Electroplated Galvanized Cold Rolled Steel Sheet and Strip) JIS G3313
Surface treatment: Chromic acid passivation, chromium free passivation, fingerprint resistant treatment
Core positioning: High surface smoothness, strong coating adhesion, shallow stamping forming
1、 Why do home appliance panels prefer the "cold plating" process?
In the fields of home appliance manufacturing (such as refrigerator side panels, washing machine casings, air conditioning backboards) and office equipment, the requirements for steel surfaces are "both rust proof and aesthetically pleasing".
Although hot-dip galvanized sheet has a thick zinc layer, there are obvious zinc flower crystals on the surface, which can easily cause orange peel patterns when sprayed directly, affecting the appearance and texture. Electrogalvanizing (cold galvanizing) forms a uniform layer of zinc on the surface of cold-rolled substrates through the principle of electrolytic deposition, with the following characteristics:
Smooth surface: The zinc layer is finely crystallized and smooth like a mirror, making it very suitable as a topcoat substrate for high-end home appliances.
Strong affinity for painting: The surface treated with passivation or fingerprint resistance can form a strong intermolecular bonding force with powder coatings and paints, making it difficult to peel off.
Therefore, for home appliance panels that focus on appearance quality, galvanized sheet metal is often a more adaptable choice.
2、 Surface treatment process and appearance grade
According to different process routes of household appliances, electroplated galvanized sheet provides various surface states to choose from:
Surface treatment method
appearance characteristics
Rust prevention ability
Applicable process route
Chromic acid passivation (C)
Slightly golden silver white
excellent
Traditional spraying process with strong universality
Chromium free passivation (NC)
Silver gray, environmentally friendly
excellent
Export European and American household appliances, RoHS compliant
Fingerprint resistant (AF/HS)
Light yellow transparent film
excellent
Non spray parts (such as computer cases, inner lining panels)
Oil coating (O)
There is a feeling of oil film on the surface
Short term rust prevention
Production lines that require subsequent degreasing and cleaning
Suggestion: When making white goods shells such as refrigerators and washing machines, it is recommended to prioritize the dual effect treatment of "chromium free passivation+fingerprint resistance", which is both environmentally friendly and can improve the yield rate.
3、 Forming processing and welding performance
Home appliance panels typically involve complex stretching, bending, and welding processes, with specific requirements for the material's processing performance.
1. Stamping formability
Electroplated galvanized sheets are usually delivered in the fully hard or annealed state.
Full hard state (CQ grade): suitable for simple bending and high strength.
Annealed state (DQ/DDQ grade): Good plasticity, suitable for deep drawing (such as the inner bucket of a washing machine), and not prone to slip lines.
2. Welding adaptability
Compared to hot-dip galvanized sheet, electroplated galvanized sheet has a thinner zinc layer and a more stable current during resistance welding (spot welding), making it less prone to splashing and electrode adhesion.
Attention: After welding, it is necessary to clean the welding slag in a timely manner to prevent rusting at the damaged parts of the local zinc layer.
4、 Dimensional accuracy and shape control
The appearance flatness of home appliance panels is extremely high, and any small wave bending will affect the consistency of the gloss after spraying.
Thickness tolerance: Implementing high-precision standards (PT. A), the tolerance range can be controlled within ± 0.02mm to ensure accurate mold clearance.
Unevenness: The wave height within each meter of length is ≤ 4mm, which is better than the standard for ordinary cold-rolled plates and effectively reduces the leveling process.

Conclusion: Within budget constraints, pursuing high-quality appearance of home appliance panels, electroplated galvanized sheet provides a good balance.
6、 Packaging Protection and Delivery Standards
In response to the zero tolerance requirement for surface scratches on home appliance panels, multiple protective packaging including rust proof paper, plastic film, and steel strip is used for shipment. Lay neutral moisture-proof paper between the layers of the board to prevent friction damage to the surface gloss during transportation.
We have a stock of 0.4mm-2.0mm thick and 1000mm-1250mm wide galvanized coils and flat plates in stock. Supporting precision machining services such as slitting, laminating, and longitudinal cutting, it can directly connect with the automated stamping assembly line of home appliance enterprises.
After receiving the goods, it is recommended to store them in a dry environment to avoid prolonged exposure to air, which may cause oxidation and discoloration of the passivation film.
